Nicki Minaj (born Onika Tanya Maraj on December 8, 1982 in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago) is an American singer. She was from Trinidad and Tobago, but moved to Queens, New York when she was five. After releasing three mixtapes between 2007 and 2009, she was signed to Young Money Entertainment in August 2009. She released her debut album Pink Friday in November 2010. Her first album became a success, reaching to number one on the US Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum. She also became the first female artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Her single “Your Love” reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart, becoming the first female artist to top the chart since 2002. Minaj was named the 2011 Rising Star by Billboard. Her follow-up album Pink Friday, Roman Reloaded will be released on April 3, 2012.

Best Known For:
Nicki’s trademark candy-colored wigs are perhaps more well-known than her catchy hooks.

Personal Life:
Little is known about her dating life, but Nicki has many famous friends including Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears and Madonna. DJ Khaled once proposed to her on TV, but it turned out to be a hoax meant to drum up publicity for his album.
